This news is already a week old but it seems that anybody has really put attention on it, so I thought its worth mentioning here. Shockwave Japan (http://www.shockwave.co.jp/) , shut down its services on 31st of January, despite claiming to have 3.1million UV and 55million PVs monthly (numbers are from April 2008 and taken from Shockwave Japan Ad Guide October - December, which coul
d be downloaded on their site) You can still find the official closure message on their site, which is unfortunately only in Japanese. Shockwave Japan had been online for almost 9 years, before shutting down their services fully. They had been without any doubt, one of the leading casual games provider in Japan being famous for titles like “Zookeeper” . Reasons for the closure haven’t been mentioned, but rumors in circulation are weak ad coverage and a large investment in one online game title, which hasn’t been able to gain traction. Anyways, another sad news which hits the Japanese casual games scene. Meanwhile, if you miss playing , come visit our Wazap! Casual Games section (http://jp.wazap.com/casual/), where we add at least one new title per week and currently offer 50+ titles which can be played on Wazap!.
